ANBERNIC RG405M/RG405V Ultimate Setup Guide - Debloat, Emulators, Daijisho, Controls and Settings

In this video, I'm going to show you how to setup your brand new Anbernic RG405M or RG405V, which includes completely debloating and removing the installed apps, installing fresh new ones and then setting up each emulator with the Daijisho front end.

Corrections
For M64Plus FZ, in the settings sidebar after you've created your controller mapping, go to Profiles > Select Profiles > Controller 1 Profile and choose the mapping you created.
For Dolphin MMJR, to change the Emulated Cpu Clock Speed to work, you have to click the checkmark above for "Override Emulated CPU Clock Speed"
To get Daijisho to respect your save states for standalone Duckstation, and load automatically into your save state from it, you need version Duckstation0-1-4582. Newest one broke that functionality.
For PS2, you might want to try leaving EE Cycle Rate & Skip at 0 first then adjusting like my video afterwards for games that don't work.

If you got the RG405M recently and you're wondering why you can't drag to remove the home apps like he does around the 3:10 mark, it's because you have to tap and hold the home screen, go to home settings, home screen, and select "with app drawer".

I am going to add in some possible hot key alternatives. The one thing I loved about the linux builds with anbernic devices was the function hotkey enabler capabilities. Android won't let me remap the back button, but then I really thought, why do I need a hotkey enabler.

So, now my hotkeys are just loating out there.
Menu = L3+R3
Quit= Start+Select
Save=R2
Load=L2
FF=right analog right
Rewind= right analog left
pause= R3
Mute=L3

I have found this so unobtrusive and functional, I'm loving it. It didn't work when I used retroarch for PS1, but now I am moving to duckstation and this works perfect for all 8+16 bit games

A couple of points to note.
Yaba Sanshiro 2 only lets you change your directory in the pro version, not the free version.
Also you can avoid ads in Aethersx2 by playing offline; this only depends on whether you want to disconnect from wifi when playing PS2 or not.

But great video regardless, feels good to finally have more stable PS2 framerates.

I had a few issues with mine, I powered down and when I turned it back on again, my SD card needed reformatting and everything crashed every five seconds.
So I reset it and since removing the questionable apps (apptoide, APKPure) and inbuilt emulators, I've had no such issue.
Now I can install Minecraft and others on Google Play no problem and haven't lost the games I spent hours ripping from my Dreamcast collection again.

Though I still love this handheld now it works, glad it was my first foray into retro devices.

For whatever reason I just cannot get Gamma OS to install via my laptop (and I bought the 405M for that) but this video has got me close enough that this is now by far my favourite handheld (I've had the 353M, Miyoo Mini Plus and Retroid Pocket 3+). The build quality is unreal, the D Pad is perfect and if you're happy with the 4:3 era this is getting close to perfection. I'd still stack the shoulder buttons for the few games that need them (although I've just been customising the controls to move accelerate/brake to the buttons on Dreamcast racing games) and as 4:3 device I would have loved for the stick and pad to be swapped around, but it's a wonderful thing overall.

I would like to add a quick note for those searching for the answer to this issue. The rg405m's gamma os file explorer will show the dolphin apk linked as a bin file, and to fix this you need to download a second file explorer. I used cx file explorer and it worked fine afterward.

Hey thanks for making this video. I got mine last night, and followed your guide. Managed to get myself set up by the end of the night. You saved me a lot of time and research!

I'm even using my 2nd RG351V SD card (running AmberELEC) to play games. I just made new folders for ps2 gamecube wii and 3ds and no problems! I can even swap it back to the 351V and it still works.

Good tutorial. I was shopping for a handheld since I'm doing a lot of traveling. I was going to buy a Windows handheld, but a decent entry-level is around $600-$700.
