Hey guys. Thanks for the upload. I just wanted to share few thoughts about it. It's a bit difficult to talk about but I think it's important.

I made the first draft of the song in the fall of 2018 about a year after my cousin passed away from suicide. When I first heard the news, I was shocked by it. I had grown a bit distant from Lael in the previous years. Our families had grown a little distant but I always deeply admired her from afar. I was so impressed with her passion for music and life. I hoped one day she'd be willing to work with me in the studio. I thought I had to earn her respect and she'd ask me one day. My need for approval from her drove my lack of contact. I wanted her to reach out to me.

I always watched from a distance what she was up to and she was genuinely a huge inspiration for me to pursue this career, as she was an artist as well. Little did I know (or mentally blocked) that she was going through a lot her whole life. She had a lot on her plate, and I thought she was ultimately going to overcome her struggles. For that reason I stayed in the background. I deeply regret that.

I know that my effect on her life may not have changed the outcome, but I regret that I did not form a stronger connection as we got older. In my head I always thought I'd get around to forming a stronger relationship again, as we had as kids.

When she passed away, I went through a lot with my own mental health struggles. I came to realize how gentle and unbalanced life is. Her passing effected the way I interacted with everything. How at any moment we can move on from this world. I grew up, started having anxiety, started being more cautious with everything.

It's taken a long time to come to terms with the fleeting nature of life.

When I started the song, I insisted it be perfect out of respect for her. Unfortunately, I could never get it to a place that would properly honer her legacy and it hurt me inside. Only after an unreasonable amount of input and help from friends, I understood that the song was never meant to be perfect. Life itself isn't perfect, but its beautiful. I am going to appreciate that beauty a bit more.

Man, Im no musician, but the way he made this song to show raw emotions is amazing. The broken way he says "I wish I was there for you" before the drop is the first thing that really hits with the pain, and even guilt. Then when the scream hits, its just a little bit too loud, but I think its meant to be so. You are already starting to understand the pain and guilt, and then the loudness makes you jump a little and blends the feeling of loss and pain with guilt and anger at himself, and massively intensifies all of it. Beautiful song Yoe Mase, love your music.

That beat drop in the latter part is just...man. Wow. This is honestly up there with "Lonely" on my favorite songs from Yoe.

Yoe, if you're reading this, I really love this song and I send my sincerest condolences for the loss of your cousin. This song is truly beautiful. I'm no musician, but I think you did a good job honoring her legacy.

Man this hit hard in my feels. 9 years and i still regret not going to my friends sleep over where my best friend past away just due to and argument we had earlier....i wish i was there for her and than maybe things would be different...
