Показать описание
Getting a tax refund for your eligible purchases can seem overwhelming, especially if you're unprepared for it before starting your trip. Here's what you need to know! 👇
1️⃣ Sign up for Global Blue (or another refund company of your choice)
Enter your correct passport number, country of citizenship, and residence.
2️⃣ Meet the Minimum Spend at the Store
To be eligible for a tax refund in qualifying categories like clothes and sunglasses, you must shop at least 70.01 EUR in a single store on the same day.
3️⃣ Collect the Tax-free form at the Store
After checkout, ask for a Global Blue Tax-free form (aka Tax Refund form). Most retailers participate in this program, but feel free to check with them before shopping. You will be asked for your passport or a digital copy to prove your non-EU residency.
4️⃣ Get a Customs stamp on all the Tax-free forms
Before leaving Italy, take your receipts, forms, goods, and passport to the Customs Tax-Free office at the airport. There are two desks you can visit:
👉🏼 If your tax-refund eligible items are in the carry-on, visit customs after security.
👉🏼 If your items are in the checked bag, visit customs before security with the check-in tag. Inform the airline at check-in that you need your bag for a tax refund before sending it off. We recommend this as it's usually less crowded.
5️⃣ Submit tax forms at the Global Blue desk or mail them
After getting the customs stamp, visit the Global Blue desk for an immediate cash refund or process it to your credit card. This will generally be located after security. Alternatively, you can mail the stamped forms using the provided envelope. However, this process can take longer.
Lastly, here are some tips for a smooth process:
👉🏻 Keep your passport, receipts, and forms handy.
👉🏻 Be aware of the time for credit card refunds versus cash.
👉🏻 Some agencies charge a processing fee, reducing your refund amount.
By following these steps, you can ensure you receive your VAT refund as a tourist in Italy! 🤑
