Soccer Commentator Goes Nuts After Iceland Win

Fans in Iceland are overjoyed about their incredible win in the Euro Cup soccer tournament, none more so than the man who called the game on TV.

Island has only 76 professional soccer players to select the squad from. 8% of the whole population went to France to cheer for their team. David Alaba (Defender from Austria) is worth more than the whole squad of Iceland. They knocked out the Netherlands to qualify. The Netherlands are ranked #14 in the World and missed their first big tournament in 14 years because of this. All but one of the names in the 23-men squad end with -son (Exception: Gudjohnsen).

The thing with soccer/football is that goals don't come cheap. It is hard, you struggle and have to work for it. A country lives and dies on a single goal that will be remembered for generations to come. Football is not a game, it is the representation of life itself.

Ahh, this is why I love football (soccer, whatever you wanna call it), it can bring a small nation that nobody cares about such as Iceland, and make them the cover on all the newspapers in Europe the next day after a huge win like this. Football brings people together!

Pretty incredible what Iceland manages to do with just 320k people. Hats off to them. Denmark has about 17 times more people (yes, still a small country) and our national team sucks and aren't even at the European Championships.
