Applying automation can be one of the most valuable investments a company can make, but often a company does not invest in automation as it should, or it applies automation to an outdated process. The focus should first be on solving problems, explains Dr. Peter Martin, vice president business value consulting, Schneider Electric, at the 2015 CSIA Executive Conference. In this three-minute video, Martin provides four bits of advice. Most engineering project teams are judged by on-time and on-budget delivery rather than on delivering value. By measuring value, automation can add much more profit to the bottom line, Martin said.
