With so many people coming and going, Hospitals can be most difficult to patrol and control. It’s sad to say, but, if someone is truly committed to doing harm, they usually find a way. Condolences to and prayers for the families affected.

For what I was told it was a CPS case, and a nurse and social worker were involved.
While I worked at Parkland we got trained for active shooter presence.
One had to be careful as in any hospital when emotions, anger can get out of control.
The killer was with an ankle monitor for bail purpose, is a violent criminal.
I don't know why CPS was involved, but in Texas any newborn that has alcohol syndrome when born, or has withdrawal of drugs, both from mothers that consume while pregnant, babies are removed.
Babies have to go through a painful treatment to heal, cry constantly, get tremors, their little livers damaged.
If this was the case, the RN and social worker were protective of the child.
There is NO excuse to shoot who are there to help, that work hard, don't get appreciated.
My thoughts are not only with the families of the victims but all at Methodist.

Some of the most caring people work at hospitals, they should be protected, with gun toting guards in places where the patients come and go. I was in a hospital one time on the top floor, when a prisoner grabbed the officers gun, and shot up the emergency room. They locked that hospital down like Fort Knox. The Prisoner, managed to barricade, himself in one of the emergency booths. It took a while, but they shot him, before he could hurt anyone else. Our Schools need protection!

I don't understand Parkland hospital has metal detectors you have to go through them before you go in the hospital and there's hospital police so why doesn't Methodist Dallas have metal detectors ?

It was just not too long ago the lady in the emergency room was putting bullets in her gun? No metal detector’s? Hospital provides valet parking and no security at the door? I could and did carry my gun to hospital and Mental Healt facility but not allowed to Meijer grocery store. I am definitely not suicidal or homicidal but second amendment is respected and my right, I will protect my family and what’s mine. I been a momma bear and now a grandma bear. Love from Indiana.
