Yes, you could say it a better controller. The Axiom Pro has lighted buttons and pads, keyboard with aftertouch, faders are longer and you will get their self-developed music software named Ignite!

Yes, this is possible. Every MIDI controller works fine with the Native Instruments collections.

What you need to know is that all midi controllers will work with DAW software; hypercontrol is the automapping facility, making it easier for you to get faders etc. working in the Daw software. This however does not support all Daws (taken from the m-audio website):

I think I'll end up getting this. I was thinking about getting the axiom pro 61 as I have the 49 but need the extra octave, but the axiom pro series is no longer "supported" and I can't get them new anywhere for love nor money. So it looks like the cheaper and seemingly better, Axiom Air for me next month. Plus, it's got all that funky new software that comes with it. Including Pro Tools Express. Okay, it only has 16 tracks but I might just it for mastering finished songs exported from Ableton.

Hypercontrol does not support FL studio, manual midi mapping is done within FL studio.
