SOLD - The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the high performance version of the Ford Sierra built for Ford Motorsport with the purpose of producing an outright winner for Group A racing in Europe.

Initially built using the 3 door hatchback bodyshell with rear wheel drive, the 4 cylinder turbo charged engine produced 204BHP and was good for almost 150mph. A limited run of the more powerful RS500 model was also produced for the UK only and the values of these today can only be described as mouth watering!

The second generation Sierra Cosworth utilised the 4 door Sapphire bodyshell and retained rear wheel drive. The handling was less aggressive and the car was marketed as a fast road car rather than a racing car.

For 1990, the third generation Sierra RS Cosworth gained 4 wheel drive for the first time. Easily identified by the bonnet louvres, the equipment level on this car was also increased, which in turn increased the weight and encouraged Ford to increase the engine power to 220BHP. Production ceased at the end of 1992 with the introduction of the Mondeo, there wasn't a Cosworth Mondeo but Ford wisely produced the Escort Cosworth which used the running gear of the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4.

Our car on offer today is a February 1991 registered RS Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 supplied by Sandicliffe of Boston.

Only 13,000 warranted miles have been carefully covered by its one registered keeper from new - this must be one of the lowest mileage, most original cars available and is not to be compared with lesser quality cars on the market. When delivered in 1991 this car had a list price of £27,560.

Finished in Magenta metallic red paintwork with unmarked Raven Leather Recaro trim the car is a must for any serious RS collector and is worthy of close inspection.

There have been no modifications and it comes complete with documented service history and 18 old MOT certificates confirming the very low mileage. There are also brand new Recaro lumbar support pads in their original bags with the car. Also fitted is a Vecta immobiliser with installation certificate to protect your pride and joy. The tyres are the original fitment Bridgestones on the original un restored 15" alloys which are in perfect condition, the spare wheel and tyre have never been fitted.

The original Sandicliffe dealer number plates and tax disc holder are still present, as is the full book pack with literature and the spare keys.

Viewing of this investment quality RS is recommended in our comfortable, heated showroom here in Lincolnshire. We are open 7 days a week by appointment.

Damn that car is clean, not even been restored. The leather hasn’t got any ware to it and it’s still got its original matt finish. Best colour too for a 4x4. Defiantly the cleanest and lowest mileage car I have ever seen. Have to sell it to a collector, with that mileage you can’t really use it, although they are going up in price, most the cost will be as it’s got so little mileage.
