I like how you show the filter assembly coming out so easily! Glad it just lifted right out for you! Not lifting right out for me!

I find the video pretty accurate, but what it is missing is an apology for buying an LG appliance.  I called a guy about my dishwasher having issues, he said "well it's a good thing you don't have an LG oven", which of course I do. The LG oven melted both relays and melted a wire to the bake element.(now main board in oven is toast)  Calling about the oven, the guy said "well it's a good thing you don't have an LG fridge", well I do. The board on the fridge went, some $200 to replace because they soldered in a fuse. $8 at the source and I soldered in a fuse holder and new fuse to get the fridge working.  Will never buy or recommend an LG appliance.

Thank you for the video. 9 screws total if you count the retaining clip. I was able to clean the filter with a brush and found The Works toilet bowel cleaner help dissolve the calcium deposits.

Wish I could give you 5 thumbs up! We've been having issues with residue, esp. on the top rack with our cups and glasses & with no apparent way to clean the filter, were at a loss. Once we followed your tutorial, we realized that the opening to the water supply attached to the top sprayer was completely clogged with gunk. Thank you so much for helping us out with this (and saving us a costly repair visit!)

THIS IS AN INSANE PROCESS TO REMOVE A FILTER. You need to do this often to clean the filter. Most other dishwashers have a filter basket you pop out. THIS ONE YOU NEED 50 SCREWS AND TAKE HALF THE DISHWASHER APART... FOR A FILTER!!! Never again will I buy LG anything.

What if you can't remove the lower washer? I've tried pulling hard and it won't pop out, but I'm worried about breaking it. Am I popping it off wrong?

Excellent video. I was able to remove the filter and toss it but forgot to keep the wash arm holder (and the two screws for it). I see the wash arm holder online in a few places but I don't see the two screws for it. If possible, please tell me where to purchase the wash arm holder with the two needed screws. Thanks.

How the H do you get the bottom blade to snap back on? Mine just won't do it, even with me putting my full weight into it... anyone have any ideas?

this video was a lifesaver my warranty expired and my dishwasher wasn't draining water. I'm never buying another LG product in my life.

Great video, very helpful for this complicated dishwasher. I have a new filter now to install, unfortunately I neglected to keep the wash arm holder that was attached to the old filter. Can you direct me to where I could buy this part please? Thanks in advance.

I just changed my LG Water filter and the screws on the very top of the water filter have a hard plastic dowel that you screw the screws into. These dowels, which slide in, broke when I removed the screws and the new water filter did not come with these plastic dowels. Another thing they were tough as nails to get out - I was able to save one. Now I have to go find where I can purchase these plastic dowels because without them the screws attach to air - lol.

Sorry Catherine, we're not entirely sure what you're referring to. We do mention that you have to remove the screws to remove the filter. If there is just minor debris on the filter you can clean it.

After opening up the filter, I don't see anything that could possible have clogged the filter.  The culprit may be a black soft, round rubber cap of about 3/4 inch in diameter positioned inside a rectangular recess/chamber that water flows through and out of the washer.  The black rubber cap maybe a part of a check valve, I have not figured it out yet but it was loose and possibly causing an impediment in water flowing out of the washer.  Anyone knows what this black soft round rubber thing is?

At 0:33 you say "remove the screws".
It would have been much much more helpful if it had been "remove the 8 screws".

Removing the wash arm required a lot of force.
So I thought that would be suitable for the filter too, and I nearly broke the filter before realizing that the "the screws" also included the four screws on top too.

Good video. I only want to clean the filter and do not need to replace it. Is there an easier way to do this?
