This paddling guide video is designed to help you plan your paddling trip to the Rideau River. We plan on doing a lot more of these types of paddling guides, and so let us know what you think in the comment section, and if you have any suggestions for other information that you'd like to see included, please let us know.

Kayaking on the Rideau River is an amazing experience, I got hooked few years back, and calling Beveridge's bay home since. I met at the Beveridge's locks many boaters coming from different parts of Canada, and international visitors from as far as Switzerland. One Kayaker comes back every summer all the way from the United States, solo, on her kayak. I recommend you add this destination to your list.

Hey Ken, just getting back from a 6 day kayaking trip from Newboro Lake to Ottawa River (140km) on the Rideau River. It was such a great adventure with so many great paddling locations from lock to lock. Great weather, with only a few days of rain adding to the flavor of the trip. Most of the locks offer onsite camping with water available to top off if you're running low. I just got back on Sept. 7 and I'm already planning my next trip. You'll have more amenities available the closer you get to Ottawa. I was able to stop off at Kelly's Landing for a much needed warm meal on my last day. I can't recommend this trip enough to anyone that is wanting to take on an adventure such as this. I am planning to paddle the entire route from Kingston to Ottawa next season and already counting the days until I can return.

Being a seasoned canoe tripper, I was disappointed in the limited information provided here. You could have mentioned where to get maps, how to reserve your campsites in advance (or whether or not such is possible), ability to have campfires at the locks, opportunities for recharging e-devices, etc., etc.
