PRETTY HARD CASES is a fun and irreverent buddy-cop series set in Toronto that follows Guns and Gangs Detective Sam Wazowski and Drug Squad Detective Kelly Duff. It’s not until their chance meeting during a takedown that Sam and Kelly realize they’re going after the same target…and they couldn’t disagree more on strategy, and pretty much everything else. By day, they are heroes in their own particular way: skilled, tough, determined, and entertaining, fighting to do good in a broken system. But by night, they’re both grappling with loneliness, dysfunctional families, screwed-up love lives, and a sense that their professional ambitions may not be totally in line with their personal needs. Their friendship could help to balance each other out if only they didn’t drive one another utterly insane.

I fell in love with this show, all the characters are amazing. 2 female lead actresses, chemistry is off the hook. Especially the young love of Elliot and Jackie.
The fact that it only went 3 seasons is disappointing I keep hoping that I will see an article online about the show coming back. Crossing my fingers I will sign a petition if need be...lol

I liked the show a lot more than I thought I would based on the trailers... It's more of a 'dramedy'. It's well cast, including the secondary characters - even the boss's dog.

Well, it would appear that my review will go against with pretty much the consensus here. My wife and I simply love the show! Great chemistry between the two main actresses who play off one another extremely well. The weekly storylines and overall, main plot for the season is quite interesting, and is helped along the way with the introduction of new characters almost each and every episode. A well mix of drama and comedy, and yes, toss in some off-beat characters to the melee as well. I sure hope CBC will consider picking this series up for a second season! Right now we're enjoying what is left of season 1.
