How to Install and Reinforce Window AC Unit

The ACe Brace is an additional support you can use to properly reinforce a window AC unit.

This is a followup video from my previous installation video seen here.

Some comments were focused on the fact that window AC units are not sturdy enough and the ACe Brace will help fix that.

This is a great product for any window AC unit especially if you have children who might push on the AC unit.

This should come standard with all ac units. Makes it a lot less scary when installing the ac too I would imagine.

Thank you! I needed this and will give me peace of mind. My home is historic (over 100 years old) and I only want to cool where I'm mostly at, not the whole house in the summer since most of the time the nice breeze goes throughout my whole home cooling it. I don't want the window units to fall on my rescued dogs in the backyard and dog run. Thanks again for posting and on behalf of my dogs too! 👍🐾

Great video and description! Very clear. And will allow the window to be freely opened/closed with the AC unit secure. Shut the AC and open the window whenever you want!

I wish the ACe Brace was closer to $30. I'm not spending $75 for one. It looks like a great device and it does its job well.
I'll just go buy a piece of steel bar and make something similar. If your making it for a single window you don't need the adjustability. 2 bends, 2 twist, and drill 4 holes.

This is perfect! I'm allowed to put holes in the wall as long as I fix them and use the same paint as my landlord but I'm not allowed to put holes in the window frame itself.

Yes, the ace bracket seems to be a good idea compared to having a loosely mounted AC unit in the window. Your explanation for the need (importance) of the ace bracket is well taken. However, I agree with others that the price of $70 may be high for many people in these times of economic hardships. Where did you buy your ace bracket?

Can go for a 1/2 in. x 1 in. x 36 in. Plain C-Channel ($10 at hardware stores) or 36 in. x 1 in. x 1/16 in. Steel Square Tube (about $12) if the window width is less than 3', cut the window length and use it instead. (I just sawed a 1 in. x 4 in. x 6 ft. wood board iying in garage ).

$70, way too much money for basically a metal bar. Thanks for the review.

I couldn't quite see your window sill. Is it flat and does it have enough depth for the ac to set flat on the sill? I've never owned a modern window but i want to replace one 50yo wood, thin glass, window with an new insulated one. I get your tips on supporting the top - i just need to be sure the sill is flat like my old window. Can you help me out on that?
Thanks

Aren't you still drilling into the metal frame at the sides?

I'd like to know how the hell you stop rain from getting in through the cheap flimsy paneling. I'm looking at cutting plexiglass to the outside of the paneling and caulking it.

How do you secure your AC without screwing into a metal frame? By using this pole and screwing it into said metal frame…

$70 for what should be a $15 bracket? Ridiculous that anyone would pay anywhere near that price for a bracket. I'll pass thanks.

I just cut a p s of wood put light foam on both side .screw ac to wood.
Bring down window.
Measure an cut smaller pcs of wood .install vertically on either side.
Put foam to reduce airflow.

Having to screw and unscrew fixtures on a wooden window frame will damage the frame over time. Bad idea.

So what if you need to tilt the a/c unit to let water drip out?
