“Just beat the game to get this weapon to farm runes.” So helpful.

If you're not NG+, just use Hoarfrost Stomp on a Katana.

To fully maximise your rune return on this farm I find that running up to that stone kinda pointing upwards, on the left side at the top of the hill, striking once and then running back to the grace to respawn..

I used to do it your way at first but found the first sweep kills 3/4 and the second was only doing the stragglers and making the distance back to the grace longer.. with the one sweep method every 3 mins I kill 3/4 of the field 15 times, rather than 3/4 of the field 6/7 times and a couple of stragglers. Also do it at night as the glowing eye albinaurics with higher rune drops have a better chance of spawning 🤙

NG+ (journey 2), sacred relic sword +9, gold scarab and fowl foot consumable = 1, 352, 305 runes per 3 mins (dependant on how quick you turn yourself, any golden eye albinaurics spawn etc. just happened to be what I got on a test run)

If you don't have the Sacred Relic Sword yet, Radahn's Greatswords are a good option, low Intelligence stat requirements, but if I remember correctly, the Strength Requirement is a bit high, and the Sacred Relic Sword gives way more runes, around 70 to 80k if memory serves me correctly. Radahn's Greatswords it doesn't take much longer to do the farm, around 3 full Ashes of War will kill them all, but you only get 40 to 50k runes between each rest at the grace. If you have the Sacred Relic Sword, maybe just respec your character to use Sacred Relic Sword until you have bought all the shit you want from the Maiden Husks and Merchants, and got the stat level you are happy with, maybe buy all the Smithing and Somber Stones, Glovewort, etc. that you want, then just respec back to your original build.

Using Waves of Gold at the Mohg farming spot is definitely the most effective rune farming method in the game but I'm afraid I must challenge your claim about getting 20 million runes per hour. I was using this method myself today and I decided to do some calculations.

The only methods I'm aware of to boost rune gain are by equipping the Golden Scarab talisman and using a Pickled Gold Fowl Foot. Using both of these, clearing out that hillside will net you a maximum of 62, 490 runes. I timed myself and from the moment you stand up from the Grace site, use Waves of Gold two or three times to clear out the hill and sitting back down at the Grace takes an average of 25 seconds.

There are 60 minutes in an hour which translates into 3, 600 seconds per hour. At 25 seconds each, you can fit a maximum of 144 cycles into one hour. 62, 490 runes times those 144 cycles is a maximum of 8, 998, 560 runes per hour. And if you don't have any Gold Fowl Feet available, that drops to 6, 921, 648 runes per hour.

I also did some calculations to determine if it's even worth farming the materials for Gold Fowl Feet to boost your rune gain. Say you can only play 2 hours a day and you spend that first hour farming materials for Gold Fowl Feet every time. That means you can only get a maximum of 9 million runes in a day but if you instead spent those 2 hours rune farming and ignored the Gold Fowl Feet, you'd get almost 14 million runes per day.

Feel free to perform your own calculations if you want to fact-check me. I am curious how you reached that 20 million per hour figure. Please explain your process to me as I would really, really, REALLY love to be proven wrong.

100% correct. Palace Approach is the BEST/FASTEST farming location in the game by far. I see lots of people posting other locations with a tedious array of miniscule cliff edges they have to jump to with the donkey and then when or if they ever get to the target location they have to jump off and down a cliff edge in air swinging a sword for a good while. I guess that's fine for those who haven't yet reached Palace Approach or beaten the final boss for the Sacred Relic Sword therefor having no other alternative but still remains Palace Approach is the best and fastest.

I love this farm spot and yes its definitely the best spot to farm. I have tried jumping off cliff different spots in the game but for me personally it’s not worth the hassle. I love how simple this farming spot is and I usually just watch YouTube on my phone while farming. And voila! Lots of runes to spend after 30-60 min.

just to the edge of that cliff (by the site of grace) there's a giant bird that when aggroed will jump off a cliff and die and give you, 11k doubling what you'd get with the Albeneurics. All you need is a bow and arrow.

NG+4 with scarab and consumable = around 12 million runes an hour. Unreal farming spot.

During your first play through try the Ruins Greatsword. While not as good as the one shown. It’s still an area attach that allows 3 or 4 enemies at time.

You can get 135, 000 per farm at the Cliff jump hole in the same area. It take 4 minutes to do once u practice that's about 2 million an hour without fighting anything

I hate videos advertising the cliff jump as “500k in 30seconds” as it takes 1min 40sec (minimum) from start of grace till you get the runes, and it’s also only 290k (NG7), not to mention you WILL mess it up and die multiple times meaning it takes over double that time. People just like flashy big numbers, but this method along with the crow snipe right across the gap, are tried and true, reliable, glitchless, and safe. Kudos for suggesting legitimate farming methods and not conflating the numbers.

I love how in every farming tutorial you have to defeat some kind of boss first LOL like isn't the point of farming to level up to defeat said bosses in the first place

Why are you running to the right around the rocks and taking two blasts with the sword?
Most efficient way is get up from the grace, run straight forward over the rocks (if you look there is a channel in the rock pointing straight down the middle, use it) until you get to the lip of rock before the enemies. Stand in the centre of that rock, fire of one blast & run straight back as soon as the blast animation let's you move.
If you line up correctly you will hit all the enemies in the front line.
If you move ASAP as soon as the blast animation let's you, then you will get to the grace just as the last runes are collected. Make sure you are facing towards the enemies before sitting at the grace.
You should have the golden scarab & gold pickled fowl foot equipped, obviously.
Using the method I describe is the most time efficient way to farm because you are making the most use of the boost from the fowl foot rune boost.
By running around the rocks & launching two sword blasts you are losing probably one, maybe two fowl foot boosted blasts for the time it takes for your attack run.
It's all about using the rune boost time from the fowl foot as efficiently as possible. What you are doing is really wasteful.
