A Deceased Billionaire Leaves His Spoiled Grandson a Series of Tasks in Order To Inherit His Estate

Red Stevens (James Garner), a self-made billionaire, has passed away and his relatives and lawyers gather in a board room to hear his partner Ted Hamilton (Bill Cobbs) and executor of the estate read the will. Many of them are disappointed, and others feel that they have been cheated. Before he died, Red made a video of himself speaking directly to Jason Stevens (Drew Fuller), a privileged young man who is the black sheep of the family. He has lived off a trust fund and spent most of his days as a hedonist, doing whatever he wanted. Red has other plans for him: if he wants his inheritance he must fulfill a series of 12 challenges designed to help him clarify what is most important in his life. Ted will judge whether Jason passes each test or not.

The first task really shows the viewer why Red believed in Jason so much. It's because Red saw himself in Jason. That line of fence that went beyond the horizon showed the connection between Ren and Jason in that they were both hardworking and committed.

I know this is a small part in the movie, but the man who brought the Texas soil then sprinkled it on the deceased man's casket, was moving to me.

I remember watching this at school. The teacher made students watch this (I attended a Catholic school). It was intended to inspire everyone to live a charitable and spiritual life. It didn't inspire the students though. We sat there, bored and sleepy.

Why is it that even though these movies and tv shows are made here in the United States that it shows the vehicles with steering wheels on the side where the passengers would normally sit instead of where they should be?? Could someone please let me know??

I like the gentle use of a cattle prod as a morning alarm. Not very Pc but it raises a smile. You re definitely rooting for the young man, rebellious but not walking with a big ego.
