I love this reason cause in my context of DogDay's Torture, it’s showing him that he failed as a leader and is tormenting him daily, so the line “If we could never done, the things we did..” just hits different for me.

I think it sounds sadder when Dogday sings CG5's song. Just cuz we know that he was more than likely stuck in that cell for many years, knowing that his legs were torn off in a violent manner probably by Catnap. An un-named child, doomed to grow up in a body that's not his own. Plus, he thinks that he can't be saved, telling the player to run, to save themselves before meeting a similar fate to his own. His story and the other fates of the large Smiling Critters are all very sad after you've heard their cardboard cutouts.
