The Viennese audiences took him to their hearts like no other tenor .When he finally retired they presented him.with a gold ring -I believe a unique gesture His amazing ringing top D was and remains matchless.as does his lively phrasing .

Unbelievable, I have known him for a long time, but when I hear this singing, I am always again overwhelmed.

What a brilliant, splendid Tenor who knew the "Art of Singing" and demonstrates this in "every" note. No covered Tones-just
pure ringing, brilliant tones with gossamer pianissimo.

Much like his voice and this is a signature piece...I'd be happy if this was the common "voice" of tenors. However, I think I still lean toward Wunderlich in mind of the German-ish style of singing.

The Flower Song from Carmen is played at the wrong speed-about 1/2 step high.

Great singer, though it’s a shame he only sang in German.
