Hot Jupiters are a class of Exoplanets similar in size and composition as Jupiter,
That orbit in extremely close proximity to its parent star.
Hot Jupiters usually orbit its star within less than 10 days,
So it’s no surprise that temperatures are at least 1,100 Degrees Celsius.
Up in its atmosphere, wind speeds in these worlds are sometimes 8 times the speed of sound,
Making even the most extreme storms on Earth seem like a paradise.
Hot Jupiters are the easiest category of Exoplanets to detect using the transit Method.
When a planet passes by its parent star, the star’s light would slightly dim,
This is known as a transit.
So, how do these hot Jupiters form?
During the formation of the star system, These worlds were formed far away from their parent stars hundreds of millions of miles away,
But over time,
These gas giants had migrated inward because of the star’s gravitational pull,
And over millions of years, they became a part of a close circular orbit with the parent star.
These planets are certainly one of the most hellish in our vast universe.
