I'll be getting one of these which I will mount on a stand up against the back wall of my garage. I'm going to make a hole in the back of my garage to shoot the dust through with a piece of 4" pvc drain pipe mounted to the discharge and through the wall. That way I don't need the bag or any cyclone separator and as it won't be obstructed by a bag it should have even stronger air-flow. The sawdust/chips that collect behind the garage can sit and rot as compost and the fresher stuff on the top of the pile can be used as mulch. If the pile grows too large, I can always take it back to my annual brush pile at the back of my property and burn it off.

I need to find one here! I'm just re-building my carving desk a bit like yours and have found a great little bathroom extractor fan that seems to be a step up from a computer fan for the top. Only got a shop vac for down draught though, that looks like a great upgrade!
