This scud fly tying tutorial is a great fly pattern. We've been sitting on this Cold Spot Scud for a while. We tied this fly for our friend Todd Moen of Catch Magazine. While it might not be the best time to fish a scud, there is no such thing as the wrong time to get some tied. Hope you enjoy.

Hook: Ahrex FW541 size 8
Bead: Hareline Tungsten Gritty Bead 5/32" Peacock
Weighted Wire: Lead Free .015"
Thread: UniThread 6/0 Gray
Antennae: Mallard Flank Medium Dun
Shell: Thin Skin Fly Specks Clear Black
Body: Spawn Simi Seal BC Scuds
Rib: Ultra Wire Blue Small
Cement/Resin: Loon UV Clear Fly Finish Thin

Amazingly done as always! If I used a pink or orange bead tied down in a size 12-14 for my local spring creek in the east, would you still use the blue rib?
