You're lucky you have that option, here most leases like that are industrial use. But rents are really cheap here too. You can rent a 3 bedroom villa in a gated community with a public pool and recreation center for as little as $300 a month about 10km from the city center.

Yes, nice vid. always informative, you know I've been looking at concrete base homes and saw some nice bamboo type houses very nice .
You should look into alternative housing and do a information based homes vid. on that.
Awesome job thanks always bless your family.

Good video and good advise Tom. As you know with us we went the condo route as just a place to call our own, but with the thought that one day the value should go up and if we sell we've used it for a few years and at least get our money plus our past use back out of it. Should the economy get back on track it's also something we can lease out for those months that we aren't in the country. If not we can shut off the power and water, lock the door and walk away for 6 months, knowing it should still be alright when we get back. Hope you have a great day brother. :)

Hi Tom Great info! How about this, building a house as a foreigner married to a Filipina or girl friend on leased land for her future security is a great idea until It's NOT! After you spend all your money building and not renting, Who is going to buy your expensive house if you decide to sell, and how long will it take! This is not the U.S. or Canada. A Filipina person is unlikely to buy your expensive, for them house it would need to be a foreigner. After building & living in your beautiful home for many years, life is good, until there's a family dispute over something / anything and you Mr. Foreigner married to a Filipina, will always be on the short end! Rent a house and you Mr. Foreigner have control over most everything including financing, in case of any family or neighbor disputes you can move, In case of a rent increase you can always move! 💡👍

By the time you buy the lot and build the house you probably have ₱2m invested. Rent here is cheap. I pay ₱10k for a nice place but I could easily pay less. So it would take 16 years before I was in profit. I'm getting too old to wait 16 years.
If I want to move I can. Don't want to be like a goat on a chain in the front yard eating grass and drinking water.

Tom,
I think a 50 year lease might be just about right, lol 🤔 with the right away deeded and with a good Filipino lawyer. ☑ Thanks for Sharing your insight and information.🆗

I'm sure the location you are at is greatly influenced by the proximity to Ruth's family. If that location is non negotiable, you are better off purchasing a house and land I would think. If houses in your area would rent between $100 and $300 a month and were in a good area I wouldn't think that low of a monthly cost would be much of a burden. I'm not sure what a 2 or 3 bedroom would rent for by your house. I'm guessing under $300 you could get a place larger than what you have. I haven't seen any info on your channel as to what you can rent by you and for how much. Surely $2, 500 USD per year is not a big deal breaker as to choosing to rent or own. For someone 65 to 70 years of age that means 10 to 20 years tops. A 50k piece of property and home would be the same investment cost over 20 years.. But it's a thing to consider.. I personally could never due well in a place that was not up to US comfort standards. No Nipa hut or small 1 bedroom place with a tiny kitchen would be in my interest. Everyone has their idea of places to go and live.. Many might move locations several times over a 10-20 year period. Some guys might like an area 500 plus miles from where their wife's family are and maybe move around much more. I would hate thinking about selling a home every 3 years. 👍 Stay safe you guys. Hi and hello to Ruth and RR.

You mentioned "insurance?" Was that a reference to home insurance? I have not heard anyone speak of home insurance on youtube!?! If you have home insurance, what is covered and what is the cost? Thank you.. Always enjoy your videos! Hello from Spring Valley, AZ.. just down the road from Prescott!
