Fun fact : Mehmed I aka Mehmed Celebi is often regarded as the 2nd founder of the Ottoman empire. He's quite underrated for someone who's completely restored authority after such a catastrophic defeat

I really wonder what kind of horrific conquerors seed genghis khan had that his descendents are almost all legendary conquerors.

It’s funny how people call Timur’s empire ‘Turco-Mongolian’, while nobody calls Genghis’s empire ‘Turco-Mongolian’. That means if the founder is ‘Turkic’ it becomes ‘Turco-Mongolian’, but if Mongolian it becomes just ‘Mongol’.

It’s funny to think the Ottomans came close to destruction. It might have been good for the Byzantines but a stronger power likely would have conquered them from the East anyway. The Anatolian peninsula was already ethnically Turkic and religiously Islamic so it was only a matter of time.

In the kingdom of Timur and his descendants, the inhabitants of Moghulistan were referred to by the pejorative term jätä 3 " robbers " . The expression " the Jätä country " is often used by the historians as a synonym of Mo ghulistan .

Bartol'd, V., 1962. Four studies on the history of Central Asia. Leiden: [s.n.], p.139.

Timur was proud to call himself a Turk and hated the appellation “ Mongol ” even for his pre - Islamic ancestors . In fact, the Mongols who had migrated to newly occupied countries in the time of Chengiz Khan, integrated with the people of the Central Asian region, thus giving birth to a Turkish population . In Mongolia they retained their original characteristics . Nomadic feudalism was the pivot around which the Mongol social organization revolved . The history of Mongol feudalism is the history of their social institutions .

Timur should have focused on smashing Russia, while it was still weak. No major European threat from the East then.

Timur is a Turk he is not related to mongols his laws are also just related to Turks for example "Live to make the Turks greater! Break the hand which holds a sword against Turk!"

He was a member of the Barlas, a Mongolian tribe. Turks were just his people.
