Not sure why most people didn’t expect this; RMA renewed Ancelotti’s contract till next year not too long after Alonso said a while back that he wanted to play CL with Leverkusen next season so it was pretty obvious to me.

Making a big move this early would not be a great idea. He just qualified for the Champions League. He should show what he is able to do in the UCL with this team. The players would also stay in the club if he stays. He should leave a solid estabilished team for the next coach to come after him, like just look at what happened to Napoli.

Staying at Leverkusen would also estabilish himself as a great coach, making a move this early to a big club would put a lot of pressure on the young coach.

As a barca fan I respect him for staying at leverkussen, he brought them at a new level for them and keeping that consistency with the ucl next year will be good. Not just changing clubs cause he's good for one season

I don't know why but personally I don't like having like a "club legend" manage the team, also the hype was too much I had always preferred we didn't get Alonso. I have always wanted Liverpool to get someone like Nagelsman instead. When I heard alonso wasn't coming, I was like "ok".
