The Saints were GIANT Sinners

On All Saints Day, we celebrate the lives of the saints. But lest we lift them too high on a pedestal and give them glory rightfully due to God, it's important to remember that they were sinners as well trying to work out their salvation. We are called to be saints just like them.

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

- Matthew 19;25

Out of depression, I imitated Theresa of Avila's infamous line: "If this is how you treat your friends, no wonder you have so few of them." Yet here am I..still with God and friends with Him.

Yes 👏🏼👏🏼 Sometimes we can forget that Saints were regular people who struggled with sin, too. They just didn’t give up on the pursuit of holiness!

I’m new to Catholicism and this helped me feel good knowing that nobody is perfect and knowing that great saints are not perfect makes me feel good about becoming a catholic😄🙏🏻🙌🏻

"The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint." - Leon Bloy. This is the general purpose to all of our lives.

My confessor had to tell me this when I was expecting perfection from myself. Scruples is not something one should desire.

Perfect video which epitomizes the saying "God does not call the qualified, God qualifies the called". I love that saying and it has stuck with me for decades.

Praise & Glory be to You, Almigthy Living God Father, Son, Holy Ghost! You made saints out of sinners, that gives me hope. I pray for Your mercy, O Lord. Thank you.

Amen! One of the most important lessons of all the saints is that with the help of God we can get to that same place of holiness, that God can use us just as much as He used them.

Greetings:
I just had a Priest at my home. Been dealing with a illness.

He gave communion, and we talked about all saints day. Now what do I see in you? Perhaps one day your be a saint yourself. One never knows. Your next generation of priest to carry the gospel. May our Lord and savior keep you well, and shine his divine intervention upon you. Amen ✝️

One of my issues with St. Augustine has always been - and, correct me if I'm wrong - he seemed to take a lot of the joy, comfort and release that grace supplies, and focused so much on the sinfulness of man, that many - to this day - seem to worship God and follow religion out of fear, rather than happiness. I know I left Christianity behind for many years, because all I heard about was how sinful man was, and how difficult it was to be in God's good graces. So, I figured that if I couldn't possibly succeed in measuring up to 'being good for God''; I could really succeed in being sinful. It took a long time for me to come back to the faith, and a lot of study, meditation and prayer, for me to accept that God, as our loving Father, is not so big on sending as many of us to eternal torment as possible, but is, instead, like any parent; sorrowful when we do wrong, trying to correct our mistakes and in being more than willing to forgive - because they love us. And if our Earthly parents can still love us and forgive us; why would we give less credit to God, our loving Parent?

It is true that to be dependent on God we have to remember we all sin. If we felt we were perfect we would not feel the need for God. Thank you, Father, for reminding us.

Everyone in the earth planet deserves to be a Saint when they persevere to love God and love themselves and others... noble character is so rare.

Great video, one of your best?
We also recall that we are a Pilgrim Church but we must never forget that we are also part of the Communion of Saints. They are our best friends and their only true function is properly to point the way to Our Lord himself. Yet because of Grace, because of Gods infinite mercy and compassion he has given us these persons to inspire us and be our heroic examples of light that act for us to lead us to Our Father in Heaven. One of the greatest graces given to the Church on earth, militant and at war is the Church Triumphant in Heaven, the inspiration of Tradition and the glory of grace realised. This most beautiful and sweet Communion of Saints is our hope and destination.
