IMPORTANT INFO:

This version's Co-op is based on the 3DS version, where it is COMPLETELY BROKEN because enemies don't allow both players to bounce off of them like in the original Wii version. This means any of the more difficult levels where you need to chain bounces are impossible in multiplayer without one person dying over and over.

Really disappointed with this and hope it gets patched!

Wait wait there's no way, at 10:34 when Jon is showcasing the multiplayer issues with the bounce, you can see that DK lands and his model is facing the screen instead of forward, so the game slowly spins him back in position LMAO

Forever Entertainment shouldn't be remastering games like this again.

Ah, Forever Entertainment. That explains a LOT. Their remakes of Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead were also pretty disappointing, so I'm not surprised this also has issues.

10:25 Aw man that was such a subtle thing I appreciated from both Returns and Tropical Freeze! Made it so much easier for the player in front to not impede the other player’s platforming behind them.

"Have you played Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze?"
"Yes? Play it again. And maybe again."

I actually bursted out laughing

Between the rough patches plus the "just fine" texture upgrades, this sounds like a wait for $30 sale

These remasters need to be $30 maximum across worldwide

Not crediting the original devs is so scummy. How can people not notice this trend?

What's crazy to me is that i've heard people say this is forever entertainments best work.

2:59 You just introduced me to the term "contextual platforming" and it explains why I like this game so much (especially over Yooka Laylee's Impossible Lair). The world of Donkey Kong Country Returns just makes sense. The transitions between worlds, the way the levels are designed, it's all so... contextual! It's a testament of good planning and I really enjoy that.

To be honest, I hesitate to call it even a remaster. Feels more like a port of the 3DS version and that's about it.

5:37 Diddy is there for emotional support.

4:48 WTF I bought this Game SPECIFICALLY FOR the Soundtrack. The Remixes from the OG DKC are just Fantastic, not to mention some of the new Tracks like Music Madness and the SIloutte level and the different versions of Mine Cart Madness. I forgot to mention the Boulder Roller Theme that plays after you smash down the DK Plate.

I know a lot of you _shudder_ when you hear “emulation.” But if you can emulate a game and it looks as good as good as its “enhanced port, ” then there is a problem with that port.

This game looks _WORSE_ than what I can get with emulation. The water is my biggest problem. But there are others. And now I know there’s frame drops and longer load times?!?!

I use an HD texture pack but that is ONLY for the HUD because the game looks SO good already.

I like that you stressed the base game is, and always has been, a great game. I don’t feel other reviews made this clear. I no longer have my Wii I originally played this game on so Im really looking forward to playing this game again after all these years!

Hate they did the port cheap, but I still love the game is back!

Considering the price of this port too, this is just ... unacceptable. Definitely going to play it on my 2DS or Wii.

Nintendo is WRONG for not crediting the original developers.

This game has major “I’ll grab it if target does a buy 2 get 1 free deal and there aren’t any JRPGs I want to grab right now” vibes for me- which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but not one that screams confidence

Loved it on the wii though
