You obviously have not watched the launch of the CC9 Pro. The Xioami CEO explained the cost of the Camera system in this phone and that's why SD720G has to be used over the 855+.

Also i think the reasons for the price increase is the 108mp sensor as according to them the sensor is 5-6 times more costlier than the normal sensor they use. Also they had part on the R & D of this sensor with samsung. The price of the next xiaomi phone imo with the 108mp sensor will be less, as samsung might include the 108mp camera in their s11 series

Just throwing this out there - my 3 year old Xiaomi Mi Max 2 just got MiUI 11, while my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2019 hasn't seen a single update since release despite being riddled with bugs. In case you were wondering which brand was more reliable...

Yeah, the 5x camera is a bit of a cheat. It really is a ~4x optic with an 8Mp sensor. It achieves 5x by cropping out, so you basically getting a 5Mp photo, but then it upscales back to 8Mp. Okay Xiaomi...

Please do a followup video if it gets updated and Gcam arrives.
