Cicely Tyson Honored During The 3rd Annual National Cares Mentoring Gala

Miss Cicely Tyson was honored during the 3rd Annual National Cares Mentoring Gala: For The Love Of Our Children hosted by Tamron Hall and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson.

Founded in 2006 by Susan L. Taylor, as Essence CARES, while she was Chief Editor of Essence magazine, the mission of the National CARES Mentoring Movement is to break the cycle of intergenerational Black poverty through mentoring and implementing life-transforming initiatives. To date, our local CARES Affiliates in 58 U.S. cities and 23 states have recruited and placed over 140,000 mentors, supporting more than 200,000 children in need.
