PRIDE is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all

"When you`re in the battle against an enemy so much bigger, so much stronger than you, to find out that you have a friend you never knew existed - well, that`s the best feeling in the world." - Hands down, this is one of the best moments in the history of cinema. This is one great story.

I have just watched one of the funniest and moving films I have EVER seen. This film is fantastic and very touching. I urge you all to watch it. Here is the preview. It is based on true accounts of how the miners and the gay community came together. What a wonderful testament to humanity.I come from a mining community, in Ystalyfera just 7-8 miles away from where the film was shot. My my father, and grandparents were all miners. And as I am a gay man, this film was very profound for me.

Solidarity builds up a better world. What LGSM did (without social networks) was *great* and deeply human. A pure act of loving and taking care of strangers in a bad situation.

This is my youth. I marched in the eighties on pink saturday (that was what pride was called then in the Netherlands). We had miners over that summer out of solidarity, to give them some sort of a holiday. So do you think I cried when I saw this movie? Yep, sure did

Apparently there are parts of Wales where they talk about Mark Ashton "as though he were Joan of Arc".

I just found the film three days ago, and watched it since then two times. As I was finished at first, I couldn't stop, so I pressed play again and watched it again. It ended at 3 o'clock in the morning.

An absolutely AMAZING film; I was spellbound throughout. I shed tears of joy from start to finish; joy in the overwhelming power of the unity created between these two very different groups through their very similar experiences of overt oppression and marginalisation wielded by the ignorant masses. The message, whether expressly intended or merely inferred, that in times of political bullying, those groups bullied and held down will unite, and good will prevail, came through with bells and whistles; the power of a united oppressed is massive!

Fabulous movie. Well acted and a great story. See...doesn't matter what one's orientation is, when it comes down to it, we can all pull together if the passion is there.

I love this film because it makes you feel so warm inside. Just people who've had it tough, either as ordinary working men, or people in the LGBT community, banding together to make life that little bit fairer for everyone.

I absolutely loved this movie, the fact it was a true story made it even better! It's a brilliant example of what can be achieved, when we put our prejudices to one side & unite, to stand up for what we believe in no matter of sexuality, race, culture, colour or creed! ...👍💞💞💞
