Swing Rhythm for Piedmont Blues

Barre chords sound great when they're played correctly. What's unfortunate is that playing them correctly isn't super easy. And since they're difficult us guitar players like to find ways to cheat and just get by without actually learning how to nail a proper barre chord (bar chord) sound.

This was me.

I was playing guitar for years, probably a decade or more, before I decided to take a hard look at how my barre chords really sounded. When I did, I wasn't happy. I could hop into position pretty easily, but I couldn't quite get all of the notes to sound clearly. And when I talk about correctly playing a barre chord, that's really what I mean:

When you play a barre chord each note in the chord should be played so the note sounds clearly.

In my playing there was usually that note on the first or second string that just didn't get the attention it deserved.

In this video, I'll show you a couple of quick tips that helped me get a better sound from my barre chords.

Have fun and keep picking!

Nice tips. I still have issues with my left hand cramping up when playing the same barre chord shapes over and over. I feel like I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what.

I was kind of hoping to find some tips how to avoid using too much pressure and injury... Do you have another lesson up on that?
