But what is yeast? You say some yeast cells are added to the liquid. But that doesn't explain what yeast is and where it comes from

Okay so everyone, As everyone is asking hence im answering it, the first yeast or the pure culture, is culture of yeast that is isolated to 99.99 % purity...such first culture is obtained after successive isolations of yeast strains in multiple steps which can be isolated from Air, Soil or water commonly found in nature.

I'm doing this with my last pack of dried bread yeast (pandemic style). Is sugar and water enough to feed it ? Are there any tricks to ensure it's only yeast growing ? Can I feed it like a ginger bug, or just give it a giant pool to swim in ? I see in addition to water, air, and molasses, you add nutrients... What sort of treats are you giving the yeast to make it so happy ? Any help is appreciated !

So yeast can live without water just like the instant yeast I bought.
