Pro tip from someone that has been washing my muddy ass jeep for 10+ years, haha
On my Jeep XJ, when there is a lot of dried on mud I just use any old car soap through a foam cannon, and pre-soak it for 5+ minutes. Re foam or mist the surface if it starts absorbing which it usually will. The dirt needs to be re-hydrated then the pressure washer will literally melt it off with almost no effort. Literally the cheapest soap I can get is what I use for that purpose, anything that will foam since all I am trying to do is wet the dirt and let it soak in.
Otherwise you are trying to re-hydrate the dirt while removing it and it ends up just sticking to the paint especially the thicker clumps.
