the fact that it hasn’t even been a decade since same-sex marriage was legalized in the US should say enough as well

Not to mention the nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills currently under review across the US. But sure, everything is

there’s also still plenty of places across the world where homosexuality is illegal and sometimes even punishable by death.

homophobia is not only lack of representation and laws, its also the comments and posts on the internet, the conversations of your aunt, the posters in church

it is so sad that it it is still present today. yeah its gotten better but there are still ppl who dont accept and in some countries its illegal to be a same sex couple. also i used to live in texas where the government is transphobic. we havent fixed the issues with acceptance yet but i really hope we do soon.

I'm queer and living in a religious country that criminalizes homosexuality and being lgbtq. The internalized homophobia and gaslighting is real but once i accepeted myself as queer i felt some kind of euphoria. I still fear for myself and other queer people in this country as something as simple as having a personal project depicting a gay couple will get you to the jail for breaking religious law! Sick!! Even if you present out of the gender norm. It's really saddening.

Also homophobia is definitely still alive and well. Just go under a post of any queer content creator and you’ll see it 😓 and as a queer person myself in a country where homosexuality isn’t criminalized, I’m still not comfortable is partaking in pda with my partner because you never know who’s on that red pill 😭.

I wish someone would be this passionate about racism too… It’s still a big problem just like homophobia.

Not only jail, but also asylums and worse (asylums were HORRIBLE to begin with a while back).

As a queer girl in Pakistan I'd like to say homophobia is still everywhere
Laws state that any same sex couple found shall be send to death or life sentence

Literally cried the first time i read these laws😢

It’s funny cuz people still h a t e that queer people are represented in the media. I deal with a family member that does not like queer individuals being in shows or advertisements. Claims she’s worried about her children 😐 She also believes queer people are against nature. So…it’s wild to say we don’t deal with issues still.

Also that being gay is still illegal in a lot of the world and in some cases punishable by death; and attempts to criminalise transitioning and censor queer content.

I‘m a queer Person myself and absolutely agree with you that queer people suffered for centuries due to their sexual orientation and identity. However, I do not think that the trauma these people had to experience is something a “modern queer” should claim for themselves. Yes, there still is homophobia embedded in our society but as a individual living in the modern west I am aware of how good I can live. Gay people have the same rights as straight people. Yes it took time which was too long and yes there are still homophobic assholes out there who need to educate and better themselves but I am so tired of folks in our community victimizing us and not recognizing how good we can outlive our sexuality nowadays. No, I do not carry the trauma of thousands of queer people who suffered. My sexuality is not my identity and I am glad to say that I am not oppressed.

And unfortunately, there are still plenty of homophobes and transphobes everywhere around the world, still physical attacks on LGBTQ persons, and countries where LGBTQ persons face arrest, imprisonment, and even death for just being who they are. I am so sorry these things have been and still exist for LGBTQ persons (I myself am a straight man by the way).

Thank you for making this video. And may you and your fellow LGBTQ persons be able to feel safe, respected, and welcome in all countries.

My enslaved ancestors would roll around in there graves if I went around claiming I’m traumatized by what they went thru. GET OVER IT!
