BMW Goes BIG with the 2019 X7 | MotorWeek Road Test

Like most luxury brands, BMW started their SUV journey in the late 1990’s, with the midsize X5 sports activity vehicle. Since then, they’ve focused their expansion efforts downward with the compact X3 and even smaller X1, not to mention coupe versions of all three. Now, they’re finally expanding upwards, joining the large ute ranks with the all-new X7.

Hardly what I would call "full size". Third row seat is half decent at best, and no cargo space. Not exactly a vehicle to road-trip in with 7 people and their bags. I think I'll stick to an expedition/navigator...

This is generally the flagship 7 series sedan but in SUV version.

I like it better than competing Mercedes. I probably still take a GMC Yukon Denali because it looks more boss, and tows better, but this is maybe best BMW for sale today. Just get it with the straight six and stay away from Abrams V8s.

Automatic seats are too slow. You’ll be sopping wet if it’s raining before you get in the third row.
