As always, this video is helpful again. I started leaning pronunciation by watching your videos. Now, thinking I've had mastered it, I still learned something I didn't notice before. Thank you, Rachel.

To simplify, and to try to be consistent with other resources like the Cambridge Dictionary online.

@orotchimaro Yes, singer has an unstressed [əɹ] ending. The G is not pronounced as a separate sound -- here the NG signify 1 sound: [ŋ].

The difference is that -er- in PERSON or GIRL is in a stressed syllable, so it won't be quite the same, though the tongue and lips take more or less the same position.
Best, Rachel

I haven't planned courses yet for 2013. But if you go to my website, right on the home page there is a place to sign up for the mailing list, and I'll announce it there and on my facebook page when I schedule more courses.

go the the howjsay and type in a word with an -er ending. If you mouse over the word, you will hear it pronounced in British English.

The G makes the [ŋ] sound with the N -- but in 'finger' you say [ŋ] + [g]!

Th Oxford dictionary is for British English. My channel is for American English. Good dictionaries are dictionary. com or The Oxford Dictionary for American English. It's true that in British English, the R sounds is dropped in many situations. It is never dropped in American English.

It's really quite different as the schwa is basically absorbed into the R sound. But, I would say jaw drop would be about the same.
