The flow state is a constant dopamine release because you keep finding good new things/ideas which causes you to find even more and produce even more dopamine

It can be hard to say STOP and rest, but as this video points out, it helps to know when to do this and how helpful it can be to stay in the Flow. There's got to be balance between work and play or burnout is sure to be lurking around the corner.

This is brilliant! Stopping while still feeling inspired and motivated creates an enthusiasm to get back into flow the next day because we are in such a positive state, we can feel like it works, we have sustainable access to the flow state and enthusiasm energy. Don't let anyone pressure you into working to the point of being drained. That is a short-sighted paradigm and not worthy of holding leadership. Trust your internal state because you are the true leader and when you honour your energy you can really go the distance and achieve anything you want!

I agree. Rest is of utmost importance especially for creativity/top performance. Backed by science, thinking alone already uses a huge chunk of one's energy.
Though menial jobs that are pretty repetitive or simple can squeeze out every bit of strength.

Great video! Flow is the only way to live. Everything else is an attempt to make peace with being unhappy.

When I am comparing your animations with the ones from my channel I realize that I need to work harder :) You push and motivate me to become better.

When I was young the advice I was given was “write like Hemingway” and I was impudent, as a teen is, and I spent a long time striving to do the opposite. To write like it was the 21st century not the early 20th.

As it turned out when I finally found my voice and process it followed your example in this video exactly. I stop when I get to a point, leaving the excitement of the next scene for the next session. It is how I complete my first drafts in shorter amounts of time.

Additionally, the quote about being superior to who you were yesterday has been my motto for self improvement for a while.

So in the end, despite kicking and screaming for a long time, I ended up doing as I was told. Write like Hemingway.

When I lie down at night I awake at 4am, my mind so relaxed, filling with so many glorious ideas and if I go to sleep then I know I will forget most of them. So I awake writing all I can, the flurry of ideas never ceasing but I start to feel tired, but I really want to finish something so I feel I have confidence on the project, so I do. At this point my iPad dies and alas or perhaps at last I can rest. But I don't want to, I worry my desire will cease and the ideas will stop flowing, or this time I go to bed I will awake at midnight fresh and beautiful ideas anew. Perhaps night writing is the best, this way I can almost rest while my mind easily flows with the most vivid and beautiful things. But I must not ever really let my new baby too far from sight I must keep it ever close to me until it is finished or I am finished.

Great lesson to learn here. Instead of trying to complete a huge task at once, we should try and divide it into smaller pieces and stop when we get sonething done. Great work.

I noticed that when I stay up really late, pounding ice coffee (that's a thing, no lie), and writing till I have nothing left, that the next morning I feel absolutely hung over.

1:40 : Works for non-creative productive “to do” tasks as well. Leave out your tracker or papers that you will use the next day. Just by leaving them out, you’ve already started your task. You won’t go through the drudgery of “gathering your materials” because you already have them out in front of you.
