Słupsk Poland

Słupsk, a cold industrial city in Poland's far north in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Historically, this city is as much German as Polish. Coal smoke hangs heavy in the air of this industrial town near the Baltic Sea.

Nie podoba mi się Twoja opinia. Ja pochodzę z Wrocławia, jest to jedno z bardziej znanych miast w Polsce, i właśnie przenoszę się do Słupska, a dokładniej do wsi pod miastem, która zwie się Łosino (też ładnie). W porównaniu z Wrocławiem, nie to głupie. Nie ma co porównywać. Słupsk jest Słupskiem i fakt że może nie jest to zabawowe miejsce, ale ludzie są tam przesympatyczni, serdeczni, i wieczory spędzają raczej w rodzinnym gronie, niż w knajpach. Jadłem w Prohibido, i było bardzo smacznie, do tego był piątek wieczór, to było również dużo ludzi i muzyka. Wybrałeś się z kamerą w jakiś poniedziałek wieczorem i to w lutym, i spodziewasz się fajerwerków. Myślę że materiał bardzo nie przychylny dla miasta, jak i mieszkańców.

Oh yeah and about the bear, who knows really, but I will say in Afghan the Polish were some of the hardest fighters there. Plenty of euro countries just sat in their assigned areas and never took the fight outside the wire, but the poles really put in work, for whatever our work was worth in the end...

I don't know many cities which look like their name. But this definitly looks like a Slupsk.

In Słupsk's Town Hall there is an amber Bear figurine from the stone age, that was excavated around this area and it kinda became a city's symbol. There are mutiple bear sculptures all across the city, and each one has it's own design painted. The one in the video is probably representing Poland and USA military cooperation, as there is an American base in a nearby town. Also on some warmer days and events in front of the city hall you can see a person dressed in bear costume.

Historically this region was longer in Polish hands than in German hands. You refer to times before WW II, but before that times, whole region was way longer Polish than it was German. The same is true about "East Prussia" - it was just a temporary German State on Polish land.

No drive by shootings, no gangs roaming the streets, no beggars, no garbage piling up everywhere, no loud blasting hip-hop, souped up dragsters, no women getting raped on public transportation....WTF kinda city is that!Well, you're sure to get that city like in USA, UK, , Paris, etc, and more, in Ecuador, add Israeli style military wandering the streets with with uzi's, random checkpoints, etc.You could take the ferry over to Malmo to get a quick orientation.LOL.

Hard to say what the sculpture means. Is it the US pretending not to be an empire like the USSR? Is it Russia, pretending to have become a liberal democracy? I appreciate that the artist allowed that to be unclear.
