ATOMOS SHINOBI TUTORIAL

In this episode I give you a quick tutorial to get you up and running with the new Atomos Shinobi. Hope this helps!

Still learning this new(ish) UI that was introduced with the Ninja V so I give it a go and hope you find the information useful. Still sorting out the HLG and PQ display options and will give you more info on that when I can.

I had an issue where my LUTS weren't loading because you mentioned only formatting in Ex-FAT. Went to the ATOMOS site where they mentioned it will only work if you format the card in MS-DOS (FAT). Sure enough the latter worked for me.

I've looked at a number of YouTube videos on LUTs and the Shinobi and this is the only that specifically mentions file structure on the out loading card. I too found that formatting the card in MS-DOS Fat works where EX FAT did NOT work. Thank you making the video and thanks to all the below comments that really helped me fix my issue of LUTs not showing top in file structure

Just a quick (possible) tip on this - I tried 3 different cards of different sizes, with all different formatting options, and couldn't get it to load a LUT UNTIL I took the battery out and went to a/c power.

Really wish you could switch off the default waveform. It covers come vital information like ISO, WB, F stop.

2:35 for sony cameras shooting in S CINETONE, which gamma and gamut should we choosE? there is no S CINETONE in there. is it better to turn off the camera ouput option on the left? i just need to see what camera sees, to actually match my camera screen on the atomos. thanks

Hi! Thanks for the video. One quick question. I have an A7III that supports 120fps in 1080. Atomos site says, it doesn't support over 1080 60 fps. Does tha mean I can't record in 1080 120fps when the monitor is plugged in? Sorry for my lack of knowledge... And thank you!

5:52: "it has to be formatted in exfat". Just tried. That and it didn't work. Then on the Atomos website I noticed that they specified MSdos. That did work.

Just bought this monitor. Thanks for your video. I'm just now messing around with it and so far it seems really great. I have one question. My display doesn't appear to take up the whole glass. There's almost a half-inch of black on either side. My camera is set to record 16:9. Am I missing something? I just subscribed to your channel. What does "theC47" mean? 😀 Thanks again.

I own the Atomos ninja 2 full kit got it for 250 bucks. Works great with my canon g30 at 1080p 30p or 23.97 or even 59.94 1080i. I run a 7minch monitor and use the passthru as I got it just for dnxhd 220x for davanci. I edited a test file and imported directly into davanci resolve studio 16 and sweet. It scrubs FAST. Adding color grading and noise reduction the FRAME rates kept at 25 or so playback with noise reduction added. The file is grainy but man O once you add noise reduction it retains its detail! And adding color correction is stays together. Im looking so forward to this new workflow. I run a 7 inch feelworld monitor but this monitor would be friggen awesome. And yes I would love atomos to come out with a 4k version of the star. I was going to buy a ninja start but the cfast system and and ssd hack was too much. So I opted the crappy screen of the ninja 2 and used my bright 7 inch monitor with pass thru . But this monitor without the recorder is on my future buy list!!!
