With its lighter structure, optimised speed and an engine designed for short sectors, the ATR 72-600 is, by far, the most fuel efficient regional aircraft. ATR’s fuel burn advantage drives lower costs and emissions and makes it the optimal aircraft for regional markets. The ATR 72-600 is the benchmark aircraft in the regional market with unbeatable economics. Operating costs on competing regional jets are at least 45% higher.
The ATR 72-600 is the market-leading regional aircraft, offering seating up to 78 passengers. Celebrated by the airline and financing community for its unrivalled fuel efficiency and low level of CO2 emissions, it also offers low operating costs to maximise airlines’ profitability and accessibility to the most challenging airfield profiles (extreme temperatures, high altitudes, short, narrow and unpaved runways, steep approach), offering essential connectivity to the most remote communities.
Featuring state-of-the-art technology and a spacious cabin, the ATR 72-600 connects people and businesses in a modern, responsible and reliable way.
The Aircraft’s uses the brand new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 127 XT Engine. It is not just a new engine series; it is the immediate solution to drastically cut down regional air travel’s emissions, whilst also reducing operating costs. A new high-pressure turbine, new bearings and machined gaz generator case enable extended durability. Improved fuel efficiency and durability have been achieved through redesigned low- and high-pressure compressors, and a new power turbine module.

The ATR 72-600 features state-of-the-art technology, a spacious cabin, and a lower seat-mile cost compared to regional jets. The aircraft has a take-off distance of 1,315 meters and a landing distance of 915 meters.
It is known for its versatility, as it can operate in extreme temperatures, high altitudes, short, narrow, and unpaved runways, and steep approaches. It is also available in a freighter configuration, the ATR 72-600F, and can be configured for passenger-cargo operations or VIP configurations.

Too dangerous in ice.
Won’t risk it, I’ll stay with the DHC8-400 no problems . Luckily not many ATRs in Canada

I think the Q 400 is better overall, not to say that the Atr 42-600 is not a great aircraft.,
