Dr. Yvonne Kason is a medical doctor who has had 4 Near-Death Experiences and who has 38 years experience researching and counseling persons who had Near-Death and other Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs). STEs include NDEs, Mystical Experiences, Kundalini Awakening, Psychic Experiences, and Inspired Creativity.

She is the person who first coined the phrase “Spiritually Transformative Experiences“ in 1994, to describe how the love and light of NDEs and other STEs tend to transform the experiencer, changing them in a more spiritual direction. She describes her NDE in a 1979 plane crash, and her subsequent research into STEs and their profound long-term after-effects in her inspiring and educational book Farther Shores.

Her talk is entitled: Exploring Spiritually Transformative Experiences: How Near-Death, Kundalini, and Mystical Experiences Changed my Life, and Transform Other Experiencers’ Lives!
This is very important information for all experiencers, their counselors, and their families.

Using the model of “Purifying the Heart”, Dr. Kason will outline the 5 progressive spiritual stages that STE experiencers grow through after their spiritual awakening and as after-effects of STEs. This beautiful model is based on Dr. Kason’s many years of clinical experience researching and counseling STErs, and the model as described by Swami Sri Yukteswar in The Holy Science.

Dr. Kason will share the dramatic stories of her own 4 Near-Death Experiences and kundalini awakening as case examples, to show how the loving light of NDEs and other STEs can propel experiencers forward onto their next spiritual life-stage. The changing psychological and spiritual focus in the 5 stages will be outlined so that this model can be used as a roadmap by STErs and their counselors alike.

Dr. Yvonne Kason BSc, MD, MEd, CCFP, FCFP, is an internationally renowned medical expert on Near-Death Experiences, Kundalini, and Spiritually Transformative Experiences. A pioneer in the field of Spirituality in Health Care, she co-founded the Spirituality in Health Care Network in 2000, and chaired the University of Toronto’s first international conference on Spirituality and Health Care in 2002. She founded the Spiritual Emergence Research and Referral Clinic in 1992, and was a co-founder of the Kundalini Research Network in 1990.

Dr. Yvonne Kason MD is a family physician and Transpersonal Psychotherapist, currently retired. She was an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and on staff at three Toronto teaching hospitals. She was the first Canadian medical doctor to specialize her practice on the research and counseling patients of who had Near-Death Experiences, and other Spiritually Transformative Experiences. She is the author of four books, and has more than 20 published articles.

Dr. Kason retired from medical practice after a Traumatic Brain Injury in November 2003. Following a spontaneous brain healing in February 2016, a miracle of neuroplasticity, Dr. Kason has now resumed writing and making professional and media presentations regarding her extensive personal and professional experience with NDEs and STEs.

Dr. Kason is a mother and devoted long time practitioner of yoga meditation. She speaks three languages, English, German, and French, and divides her time between living in Toronto, Canada, and Encinitas, California.

About Yvonne Kason’s book: Farther Shores:

A dramatic near-death experience during a frightening airplane crash in an arctic blizzard changed Yvonne Kason’s life forever and prompted her study of the mystical experiences that fall beyond the everyday. In Farther Shores, Dr. Kason shares the story of her NDE, and explores a wide range of Spiritually Transformative Experiences – Near-Death Experiences, mystical experiences, spiritual energy/kundalini episodes, psychic awakenings and spontaneous inspired creativity – by sharing fascinating real-life stories.

Farther Shores is an inspiring book for those who have experiences beyond the extraordinary and for the health care professionals to whom they turn for help. Dr. Kason offers sound advice on how to use these occurrences for spiritual growth and personal healing.

Canada has often been on the cutting edge of every good thing that is discovered or developed to help, bless and assist others.
In so proud of this m.d. being a Canadian being the first to go public with her NDE.
This testimony helps bring spiritual experiences into the forefront.
NDE EXPERIENCERS are not crazy!

By far the most detailed lecture I've heard on NDE's, STE's, and the stages of spiritual transformation that follow. I had an STE 12 years ago with an OBE and a kundalini awakening, like what she described where the energy went through my body. What has followed in the years since is similar to what she describes. In my case, I visit with loved ones, spirit guides, and God when I'm in the twilight sleep as I'm waking up. I've gotten guidance, insight, ideas for children's book (which have been published), comfort, and even financial advice. Not a day goes by that I don't think about my ongoing spiritual growth. Since my STE, I've done hospice work and other service orientated jobs. I do a lot of sharing of my experience because I think we are going to see more and more people having spiritual awakenings. It's terrible to be told your crazy, which I did hear at the time.

Wow! What an amazing NDE! These stories give me peace. They also give me relief to know that God loves us all no matter what. He’s not an angry God but a loving being.

The book "Mojave Incident" by Ron Felber is presented as an alien encounter but many of the experiences are strikingly similar to what we call spiritual experiences even to the character of the beings. It's a connect the dots type of thing.

I enjoyed the presentation but was sorry to hear that so many NDEs including Dr. Kason have not been able to preserve their marriages and somehow convince their spouses of the importance of the necessary transformation to become one with God and the importance of serving others. It would seem that filled with the holy spirit that one who experiences a NDE would be able to keep a family (especially a spouse) together. I guess I am too much a believer in commitment to ones spouse through better or worse, sickness and in health and in sharing and convincing him or her of the path to the ultimate communion with God.

I had the "I am" experience many years ago, as a result of a friend (I'll call him "S") experimenting with trying to do past-life regression hypnosis on me and on another friend ("M") at the same time. (S didn't really know what he was doing -- he'd read a book or two but wasn't trained in any way -- and it was a bad idea, but thank God neither of us "subjects" was harmed by it.) Without going into all the details (it'd take too long), he did a regression induction to take us backwards, so to speak; and while S worked with M, I was just supposed to wait for my turn.

But inwardly, I kept going backwards, and ended up comfortably curled into a fetal position on the couch. When S turned to me and asked me to sit up, then tell him what my name was (hoping it'd be the name of someone I'd been in a past life), all I could feel and say was "I am!" But it wasn't like when God says it to Moses in the Bible; it was joyous, like a young child. S tried again, and I responded with "I am!" And "I am!" was accompanied by a burst of light/energy in my "mind". (I didn't think I was God, there wasn't much thought, and no ego attached to it; it was more like a joyous declaration of pure being.) S continued to ask questions about my identity, and I recall perceiving that he was getting nervous because he didn't know what to do with me. This wasn't a reaction to hypnotic regression that was discussed in anything he'd read.

From where I sat, each time S asked me something, the questions seemed to get more and more funny, and I started to giggle -- so I could barely say "I am!" without laughing. Questions like "Who are you?" and "What's your name?" sounded so silly. There was no "who" or "name" -- I think I also responded to "What's your name?" with: "Name?? I am!"

After a short time S carefully brought me back out of the hypnosis. The three of us talked about our experiences. M's had been very different from mine. One unexpected result: I've had chronic back pain as the result of a car accident I'd had years before that hypnosis experience. And as I walked home that evening, I realized the pain had gone. Although it eventually returned, that physical result of a glimpse into a wholly other dimension of being was a testimony that something very interesting had just happened.

My mom who died 3 years ago had a German aunt I did not know about but came to me in a dream SPEAKING German which I did not speak. I called my mother and asked her who this was and what the message MENT. The spirit was saying she was my mother's aunt who had passed.
My mom died several months later but I believe she knew her time was near and the message validated her time.
I also was at the station house fire in Rhode Island. I was about to go inside the buildings parking lot because I was a photographer in music and wanted photographs of the band.
The parking lot was full and the building was so small when I came into consciousness of this I heard a voice say g"GET OUT, LEAVE".
CHILLS FILLED MY BODY AND THE HAIR ON MY ARMS STOOD STRIGHT UP. I LEFT.
ON MY WAY HOME AN HOUR LATER I WENT BY THAT CLUB AND IT WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED BY FIRE. I LOOKED UP ABOVE THE FLAMES AND SAW A MULTITUDE OF ANGELS FLYING ABOVE FLYING IN AND OUT BETWEEN THE CLUB AND THE DARKENED SKY.
I NEVER GOT OVER IT.

Wonderful Stuff, but the audio makes it hard to listen. The mic placed with the audience needs to be muted during the talk. It picks up a lot of background noise and people's reactions. Thank you.

I am not sure if Yvonne will see the comment, but I would be interested in hearing more about the car of a Jewish man with NDE who was into Kabbalah, if possible. Thanks

In the 1995 NDE, the being of brilliant blue light with 4 hands and half feminine and half masculine form, seems to be the form of Ardhanarishwar - half Shiva and half Parvati.

i love this speaker and the information she imparts but could someone please arrange the audio so that it is not picking up every cough, sniffle, russle of food wrappers and bodily shifts from the audience. It is SO distracting and i believe is the reason there are so few likes. She is a marvelous speaker and it mars the presentation of her very important message. Every IANDS conference i have listened to has poor sound quality. Regardless, I so appreciate these postings. It is so very important that the humans are exposed to this dimension of reality. Thank you.
