Also the thing about Edison and the manager over Tesla saying it was just a joke is that they said it in a nasty way. Nicola Tesla was an immigrant from Serbia. And Edison’s response to him not getting the pay was ‘he doesn’t understand an American joke’ which comes across to me as sounding like Edison was mocking Tesla for only knowing English as a second language.
