As a black man, my main beef with my race is the emphasis that is put on our skin. So much that there's colorism (darkskinned vs lightskinned). I'm on your thought process that putting so much time and thought into something that is random is just a waste of energy (I'm called an Oreo for for this thought, but so be it I guess) but being a black man and dealing with racism, I understand why it's done. I do hope for a time where skin color will no longer matter as a defining trait of one's worth but I'm in my late 30s looking at the state of things, that probably won't happen till long after we're dead.
