Are These the Scariest Bridges to Cross in America?

Torri Forbes suffers from acute gephyrophobia, an intense fear of bridges that causes severe anxiety and even panic attacks. Forbes says a bridge collapsing under her, as happened last week in Pennsylvania, is her worst nightmare. Inside Edition was with Forbes as she crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge, a dual span suspension bridge that is 2 miles long and 174 feet high, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland, which many think to be one of the scariest bridges in the U.S.

It’s great that she wants to conquer her fears, but it’s probably really not great for other drivers having her have a meltdown behind the wheel. Take small steps. Try with smaller bridges, on times that aren’t so populated, and work your way up. For the safety of everyone.

"IM NOT GONNA LOOK." as she's driving and over a bridge....straight up craziness

My aunt has gephyrophobia. I remember being with her when I was kid and her being scared to drive over bridges. I didn’t know it had a name.

I understand the anxiety, but it's extremely dangerous for her and for other drivers to do it. People I know with similar fears go a different route. It's a bit of a longer process but ensures the safety of everyone driving.

Very dangerous 😳
She shouldn't be driving if she can't cross over bridges. Could be lethal for other drivers

My heart goes out to both of these women. I have had a fear of high bridges since I was a child (especially when they're over water). When I became old enough to drive...I would avoid them at all costs even of it meant driving miles and miles out of the way. I applaud them both for facing their fears. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough...even with a police escort.

Her: “Where can I pull off?”
Bridge: “In the water.”

She's a road hazard driving on that bridge, I'm sure she's never gonna drive on any bridge ever. She should either let someone else drive or call a taxi...

Great way to overcome these fears is to look at the history if these bridges. Most of them collapse due to design flaws and poor maintenance.

I am the complete opposite of people with “gephyrophobia”. As a kid I was always fascinated with infrastructure, especially bridges and tunnels. I used to love going over them in my parents car.

I know what it's like to have anxiety while driving. It's not fun, it's scary! It hurt my heart for the one women that was crying while going over the bridge but, I'm glad they both did it and say they did to try and concore their fear of driving over a bridge. It's a mind over matter situation and with anxiety and panic attacks it's fight, flight, or freeze situation. With anxiety use your 6 senses while you drive to try and concore or ease the anxiety that could turn into a panic attack. I have anxiety driving in alot or heavy traffic. 💁‍♀️💌💯

If you cry while driving across a bridge, you shouldn't drive....smh

Oh dang, wouldn't that be dangerous driving when you're having major anxiety?

I once had a daily commute that included a breathtaking bridge. 😱 Using focal points away from the water and keeping my eyes on the traffic helped tremendously.

The woman shouldn't even be driving...

Maybe she shouldn’t be driving on bridges. But no, its 2022, lets make her look courageous and strong for having a meltdown like a 6 year old child while in control of a motor vehicle surrounded by other drivers.

Mine is worse lol I'm afraid of the freeway. The last time I get on one was the last I couldn't stop shaking, and my heart kept booming😖

I actually totally can sympathize where she's coming from. I used to have the same phobia. When I was a kid I couldn't ride in the bus over the bridge near my house and the school refused to send the bus a different way to avoid the bridge just for me so for years until I got over my fear of bridges my grandparents my neighbors family friends anyone that was available went out of their way to take me to school so I didn't have to go over a bridge. From the looks of this video it looks like she's starting to conquer her fear as well. Once she gets through this and is on the other side she'll probably feel like I did that the whole thing was absolutely just ridiculous.
