I upgraded my copy of SE to AE upon release, mainly to experience that creation club content I had yet to experience, and considering I already owned SE it seemed like a reasonable upgrade price. In my head, my initial plan was to actually take the survival mode seriously and sorta play the whole game (with a particular focus on the creation club content) through that lens. Certain other additions from the creation club, such as backpacks, fishing, and a player owned farm, seemed to compliment survival mode very well. However, having extensively explored most remote corners of Skyrim's map in the past, I got pretty tired of having to walk/ride everywhere very quickly, and only kept survival mode active for about half of my experience. And to be perfectly honest, I still haven't finished each and every new creation club addition (just the vast majority), as I definitely did get burnout with how much overall time I've poured into Skyrim throughout the years. Without rambling for too much longer, I'd say AE is well worth it for the upgrade price from SE. However, if you don't already have SE and the ability to upgrade it for a discounted price, I definitely wouldn't be able to justify buying Skyrim again at full price. I mean, to state the obvious, this is 2022 not 2011.

First time playing Skyrim. Got it on Switch in November and taking my time with main quest. This game is awesome and takes up all my spare time.

I found it would be cheaper to get the additional CC content through AE rather than individually. I also decided to get it all at once rather than drip feeding it so that if I needed to patch anything I could.

Plus some mod makers are starting to assume people have the content, so it's handy to have.

EDIT : PC incidentally.

Bought it on PS4 cuz that's what I play on and absolutely zero regrets. I already liked the game quite a bit but now absolutely love it. Feels more immersive

I bought Skyrim about 4 years ago but couldn't get into it. When the Anniversary Edition came out, I was determined to play it and complete before i upgraded. I am so glad I did! I love the game and have it on PS4 and PC lol I haven't tried mods yet, that's my next challenge 😅 but I don't regret buying the AE as I have had hours of fun and adventures.

I had skyrim across several consoles and haven't played it in years my original copy was purchased on ps3 ... I got the ps4 pro and it just happened to come out ... I purchased it digitally so that I'll always have it ... I love all the things they added and I've played way over 1000 hours ... nothing gives you the rpg single player story like skyrim

I bought it because the CC mods included are the only ones accessible on Switch, and that's where I play Skyrim the most

I bought it because while I enjoy content added by mods, I also enjoy finding ways of challenging myself with the "official" content (creation club is basically paid mods but it being sold as a new edition personally validates the use of the content in "vanilla" playthroughs, when it didn't before). How much can I break the game? how much can I limit myself while being able to complete the questlines & side quests? Sure I could download any of the challenge mods or any of the op mods, but there is something special about breaking the game/challenging myself with the content provided by the base game + DLCs.

I bought it because I play Vanilla Skyrim (by choice, lol), so more official content is always nice. By all means, the CC is closer in definition to DLC than mods.

I bought it because i got original skyrim at a ridicously low price and played it for hundreds of hours. Even with the purchase of the anniversary edition, value per hr is still below 0.5 Euro. Just my respect for them making a great game.

I bought it on PS4 because “The Contest” was a thing now and so was “The Cause” and “Ghosts Of The Tribunal”.

Need I say more? 👁👁

Got it back at the beginning, on Nigel Tufnel Day (11/11/11); Bethesda just kept updating and expanding it for free. (Maybe because I'm on a PC?)

$20 upgrade from SE on PS4, I don't really use mods, and it's refreshing to me.

I didn't buy it but if you are ever going to consider to purchase a few things from the Creation Club, then buying Skyrim Anniversary Edition is a no brainer because it's extremely cheap. You can get it for 15.99 when it's on sale and it makes more sense to spend 16 bucks instead of around 100$ for everything.

I play PC and bought it because it's needed if you want to continue using mods for Skyrim.

Well, it gives all the creation club content for (i think) a much lower price.

I have bought it but when I say bought it I mean I was given a PlayStation card out of nowhere and use that card to purchase the expansion, I already had Skyrim on my PlayStation. I have not played it yet. My reasoning is I'm on a nostalgic kick and I am not touching it until I finish dragon age Inquisition with all its DLC and goodies. With that said I cannot give an opinion, yet. But from what I have heard since it's release I'm glad I didn't start playing at the gate because they had to do some tweaking to make the game run correctly. None of us should be surprised. The only games that seem to come out that don't need tweaking after release are a good majority of indie games. 😂😂😂😭
I do look forward to trying it though. I'd much rather have had elder scrolls 6 but I'm not going there.
