If the bully, China, has the propensity and temerity to violate the territorial waters of the Philippines as it flips the bird on its sovereignty knowing that the Philippines has a long history of amity with the US, how much more will China respect a Philippines relying on its own? The Philippine Sea, although hundreds of nautical miles distant from mainland China, is a sad casualty of China's Belt and Road Initiative. The island of Taiwan, historically tethered to China, is within their grasp.
