A virtual, interdisciplinary symposium sponsored by the Program in Latino/a Studies in the Global South on 7 October, 2020. The symposium delves into the ethnoracial disparities of the COVID-19 pandemic public crisis.

Natalia Molina, Professor of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California addresses the plight of Latinx workers during COVID-19 and what it exposes about the history of Latinx immigrants as disposable workers in the U.S.; Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, Associate Professor of Nursing at Duke University discusses the social drivers of COVID-19 and Latinx experiences with health in the Research Triangle; Rafael Vizcaíno, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at DePaul University explores the colonialist infrastructure of the global pandemic; and Victoria Bouloubasis, journalist and filmmaker for Enlace Latino NC highlights news coverage the pandemic and presents an excerpt from her latest documentary on how COVID-19 has disproportionately affected the North Carolina Latinx community. Moderated by Nicole Eitzen Delgado, 2020-21 LSGS Postdoctoral Associate.
