After standing in as a female model for a painting by his wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander), Danish artist Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne) becomes enamored with his feminine identity and begins living as a woman named Lili Elbe. Although their marriage becomes strained, Gerda stands by Lili as she explores her true self and eventually undergoes one of the world's first gender-reassignment surgeries in the 1930s. This touching biopic was adapted from David Ebershoff's book of the same name, and helmed by director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech).

How the hell can somebody be so perfect in what they do!? Eddie's an amazing amazing actor..!

I absolutely love this movie. I have seen soooo many interviews with Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander and I love the way they expressed Lili's story. This scene in particular always gets to me. After all of the surgeries, Lili was finally able to be herself. She did WHATEVER it took for her to be herself. Yes, she was born a man who transitioned into a woman. A lot of people are very ignorant about when it comes to being Trans. Most people are just very arrogant thinking their way is right. You have had the freedom to be who you are while people like Lili were basically imprisoned in their bodies. Hidden away, isolated, and never been able to see the light. I love this scene because this was basically the moment Lili finally bloomed. Basically Lili was born. In the final scene, she explains how she dreamt of being a baby in her mother's arms and her mother looking right at her and calling her Lili. Of course, being a movie they had to shorten it, but she went through two more surgeries before her heart was paralyzed and then she passed. It's such a beautiful moment especially if you have watched the transition from Einar Wegener to Lili Elbe. It's such a powerful movie and I'm glad that Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander along with Tom Hooper brought this movie to life.

I thought in real life he died during the surgery in which they were trying to put a uterus in him. As in....he never woke up after surgery like this.

I feel bad for the wife though... her partner cheat on her in multiple occasions. Idc if he gae... or its a she... no matter the gender, whatever the pronouns. Betrayal is wrong.
