And, as well as tying everything forwards, backwards and down, another very important consideration is that it has clamped down on the UNSPRUNG part of the car, which leaves the body free to move about on the suspension without stretching and ripping the strap to shreds as you drive along.

I came down with a mate in a road train from Karratha with a 12x8 trailer tied onto one of the trailers, and we snapped two straps not even halfway to Newman by not tying it on this way! The third try was with chains, and the trailer didn’t move another millimetre the whole rest of the way ha ha!

This does help out tremendously. I'm heading out to trailer a Chevy Suburban and I have no idea what kind of tie points it has. You've given me some options so I feel a bit more comfortable with getting it tied down.
