As a native Texan, I can emphatically confirm that Austin is not Texas.

I grew up in SF and seeing what has happened to it makes my blood boil. It was such a amazing experienced living there but around 8 years ago, my folks saw the writing on the wall and we left. Hearing about what’s been happening there - from the reduction of theft under 900 to a misdemeanor to the rampant use of leftist propaganda in the schools - is just so awful. It feels like SF is going to become another Detroit but in this instance the cause is purely manmade and entirely preventable.

I guarantee they won't be happy with him turning Twitter into a homeless shelter. They'll hate it

What happened to S.F.? They got what they voted for, social activist leadership and all that comes with it.

Yeah Austin is little California. Definitely a stain on the state.

Interesting that the media does not want "taxes"to be mentioned.

That is the one issue that should unite EVERYONE.

As a native Austinite, I had to leave my home city because of all the idiots moving there from outside who ruined a terrific city. It makes me sad.

San Francisco when I visited 20 years ago was beautiful. It’s sad to see what it’s become. Good luck, San Francisco.

Turning Twitter's old HQ into a homeless shelter is such an ironic moment after how long it hosted the terminally online.

I live in Houston, Texas. In the major Cities (Austin, Houston, Dallas) the government is mostly Democrat… state wide elections go Republican. So when someone says Houston has high crime in a Republican state, it’s disingenuous. It is a Republican state, but the city is Democrat.

Just last week the executive of a San Francisco charitable non-profit was arrested and charged in a $700K embezzlement scheme. Imagine that.

The people leaving Cali should stay, their voting and way of thinking is what made Cali what it is today; they leave and they take all that with them and just vote the same way they did there, and turn their new home into their old home.

A wise blue hedgehog from a hit 2001 game once said, "Follow me. Set me free. Trust me and we will escape from the city." I'm sure he knows a thing or too about escaping San Francisco-like cities.

People on reddit are saying 'good riddance', not understanding this is making their local economy worse.

San Francisco decided to ban cars in many major areas of the city, which reduced traffic and contributed to huge revenue losses for businesses. This dovetailed with the bold, open mob violence and thefts in so many stores, that businesses decided that remaining was no longer worth it. The major areas are mere shells of what they once were. I guess that the San Fran Board of Supervisors thought that they could force the public to use bicycles and to walk more. Instead, they created perverse incentives to leave the city. Also, if you disallow people from protecting their property and persons with the threat of imminent deadly force (i.e. guns), then you force them either to disobey the law, or to risk injury, violence, coercion and death. What a messed up state.

Didn't Newsom throw a fit when he announced it? I wonder how many more companies will leave.
