The Fair of Glinsk
Let me tell you about an occasion it was called the Fair of Glinsk, it happened many years ago but it hasn't happened since. The kids would wait the whole year long and wished it would come soon, because they be let to the fair of Glinsk on the 29th of June
Ah there were chocs and rocks and lollypops, and every kind of sweets, apples pears and oranges to bring water to your teeth. There were tuppence and threepence what would the kids be doing -- they'd be Up at the Cross at the fair of Glinsk on the 29th of June.

The fair of Glinsk was a great event for children big and small, it was a holiday in honour of St Peter & St Paul. The Saints should have picked a better day, they didn't know what they we doing Cos the fair of Glinsk was more popular on the 29th of June.
Ah there were chocs and Rocks and lollypops, and every kind of sweets, apples pears and oranges to bring water to your teeth. There were tuppence and threepence what would the kids be doing -- they'd be Up at the Cross at the Fair of Glinsk on the 29th of June.
You would see them unyoke their horses, they'd salute us as we passed, as we walked in two's & threes along the road to Early mass and when we got there we couldn't pray, we hoped it would be over soon, for our minds were on the Fair of Glinsk on the 29th of June.

The memory of the fair of Glinsk would last throughout the year. We d sing and dance and play our tunes till dark was drawn near. We pack our bags and say "Thank God" and hoped we d all meet soon or maybe at the Fair of Glinsk on 29th of June.

Now that was many years ago, yet I remember still it brings me childhood memories back and I guess it always will. Wouldn't it be great for old time sake, no matter what we're doing we had another fair in Glinsk on the 29th June?
