Everyone knows that one cartoon trope where a character gets trapped in a painting, yadayada, , for the record the red blue and yellow is paint, not blood!!! I think it would be cool if in a sense the paint of shijima's paintings are sort of consuming nene and kou, kind of filling up their insides, but its not hurting them as the world isn't real, but more as the process of them becoming psrt of the fake painting world if that makes sense. With nene having paint dripping from her mouth it indicates that theyre running out of time to get out of the fake world. With hanako guiding nene's hands with the knife towards his chest is him sort of saying like if you dont want to be here then you can just kill me, but of course in that he knows nene isn't actually capable of doing that. But also he's wilking to take the slight risk of her doing that if the picture perfect world isn't really what she wants because i feel like, though he's already self-sacrificial for nene in canon, it can come more into play in the pilot au. Though ofc the pilot au wouldn't really be able to exist if hanako did what he did in the actual pilot in him letting nene not see him anymore after he saved her from the ankle supernatural, i think it shows more of his lack of self care and more of the duty of granting the wishes that people ask of him. Seeing as he'd get a strike if it were a direct wish of her not being in thr picture perfect world i suppose that her just killing him would be a way to get around the whole wish thing. I also feel with in the pilot there being a clear system for punishing the school mysteries if they go against their duties hanako is much more closed off in expressing his feelings for nene, in it when hes not pretending to be amane anymore he moreso tries to distance himself and just be insistent and focus on completing his goal on getting the fake world completed. His cokd stare in some parts isnt meant to suggest he has negative feelings towards nene, , itx kinda like when he had that blank stare when the severance began yknow? When he turns into a black sillouhette its nene seeing again that hanako is the ghost of amane, a boy who was suffering, like when she looked at his ghost through her hands in the pilot. It's like that little semblance of emotion goves her hope that theyll still be abke to get out of the world.

Kind of similarly to in canon kou impulsively jumping off the school ledge comes with the fact that what happened to sousuke has really messed him up and driven him insane (he's not like actually insane but you know what i mean, , i guess??) In him hitting the ground and something almost detrimental actually coming from it (he wasnt actually hurt, it's like just, , , kind of the injury being simulated in the fake world, , i think it would make sense for shijima not allowing any fatal injury to come of kou and nene in the fake world since theyre actually human if that makes sense) it kind of gives him a taste of death, and similarly in canon it was so he could maybe just know a little bit of how mitsuba feels, except it doesnt go over as well because he actually hit the ground and mitsuba thought he died fr, , it still gets partially resolved before the arc is over, its just not as immediate.

Um and shijima at the end is her acknowledging that she failed her school duty mystery so she'll get a strike as a punishment, , i dont know if you guys remember the system in the pilot where everytime a school mystery breaks the rules they get a strike, so yeah ofc they get out of the pp world and thay makes shijima broke the rules by not completing her duty of keeping them there so she gets a strike! I would say its her first strike though as i imagine her in the pilot being more of a cold goal oriented person, , i guess she's a little like that in canon? I didn't change much of her story though because she is a representation of aidairo's (idk if it's aida or iro) struggle with chronic illness as i recall, and i myself being chronically ill and connecting with shijima very deeply her story is perfect in my eyes and i woulc never change it💛

I've onky started thinking about the picture perfect arc in pilot tbhk as of recently to make this animatic so keep in mind these are generally just rough thoughts and ofc you don't have to agree with how i interpreted stuff in my au, , its just an au afterall agahaahaa
