Since 15th century China already trade With Melaka. They never conquered us, only trade. BUT the west Portuguese, English and Dutch came with cannons to conquer us and said we belong to them. They each stayed for years.

It is stunning how little Orville Schell had to say beyond judging China with ideology and how little self reflection on the US policy toward China. As a liberal writer who is supposed to know China better, he was completely destroyed by Kishore.
